Questionnaire results

I posted a questionnaire based on some research I found related to depression and associations with colour. Here are the results;

  1. Number 27 (blue) - 'find this colour really relaxing' - this colour is nearly the shade of blue associated with depression and anxiety and this came from an unexpected source.
  2. Number 23 (light pink) - 'makes me happy and its a girly colour.'
  3. Number 6 (green) - 'it's my favourite colour, it reminds me of countrysides and freedom.'
  4. Number 30 (orange) - 'bright vibrant colour, very positive.'
  5. Number 28 (blue) - '28 is the date of my birthday and reminds me of the beach - this again is very close to the blue shades however the reason for this selection (such as the previous) is a positive reason.'
  6. Numbers 17/18 (purple) - 'because they are the colours I am currently working with in my project and I was immediately drawn to them.'
  7. Numbers 5 and 17 (green, purple) - '17 is very majestic and a deep colour. I think this relates to me and what my morals represent. It also makes me think of falling in love, and moves away from the stereotypical red connotation. Number 5 gives me comfort as it reminds me of nature and has a nostalgic feel to it.'
Overall the people I questioned didn't show signs of mental illness. I personally chose number 25 before I had read the article and discovered what it meant.

25 and 26 are colours commonly chose by people suffering from depression and anxiety such as myself. Also 33-36 ann number 1 are colours closely associated with depression when describing how you are feeling.

In my final film I am going to make it black and white so the greyscale links into the final piece. I am undecided whether to include red (number 1) or blue however I think this will link this research into the instillation even more.
